MANILA, Philippines — The country will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rains on Sunday brought by three weather systems, said Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
According to the state weather bureau, the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Ilocos, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley.
Meanwhile, the shear line, or convergence of cool and warm winds, will cause overcast skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Aurora, Quezon, Rizal, Laguna, and Camarines Norte.
Pagasa warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to scattered light to moderate to heavy rains in these areas.
The same weather system, along with localized thunderstorms, will result in partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
“Kapag po mayroon tayong localized thunderstorms, ‘yung range ng mga pag-ulan posible po mula mahina, katamtaman, hanggang sa malalakas na mga pag-ulan,” said state weather specialist Obet Badrina.

On the other hand, the low pressure area being monitored by Pagasa remains outside of the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
It was last spotted 2,045 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao, said Pagasa.
“Sa nakikita rin natin, posible itong pumasok ng PAR bandang mid-week sa paparating na linggong ito,” said Badrina.

A gale warning was raised over the seaboards of Batanes due to the strengthening of amihan, he added.
