MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared 2023 to 2033 as the “Dekada ng Kasaysayan ng Pilipinas (Decade of Philippine History), said the Palace on Friday.
In Proclamation No. 396, Marcos directs the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) to lead the celebration observance.
“I, Ferdinand R. Marcos, JR., President of the Philippines, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the Constitution and existing laws, do hereby declare the years beginning 2023 through 2033 as ‘Dekada ng Kasaysayan ng Pilipinas’,” said the proclamation.

“For this purpose, the NHCP is directed to lead, coordinate, and supervise the observance of the Dekada ng Kasaysayan ng Pilipinas, and identify the programs, projects and activities for the celebration thereof,” it added.

All other government agencies and instrumentalities are encouraged to support the NHCP in the project.
According to the Palace, the declaration comes in the same year as the NHCP’s 100th anniversary.
“The Filipino nation greatly values the almost a century of contributions of the dedicated individuals who make up the NHCP, including historians, researchers, curators, architects, engineers, chemists, conservators, artists, planners, managers, and many others, who all work tirelessly to advance historical research,” read the promulgation.
