MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Thursday warned the public against a circulating hoax advisory inviting specific party-list nominees to attend an oath-taking ceremony.
“The Commission on Elections strongly disclaims the circulating advisories purported to be issued by the Education and Information Department (EID),” it said in a statement.
The poll body pointed out “glaring errors” in the fake notice – that it was post-dated and used an old logo of EID.
It emphasized that such false advisories were intended to “disinform and mislead” the public.
“The public is hereby reminded to remain vigilant and think critically so as not to fall prey to purveyors of misinformation, disinformation, and misinformation,” Comelec said.
