Wanted cop killer nabbed in Cavite

LUCENA CITY — A wanted drug suspect, who killed a policeman and wounded another cop in a buy-bust operation on Sept. 8 in Dasmariñas City, Cavite, was arrested Tuesday in Bacoor City..

In a belated report on Wednesday, Nov. 8, the Police Regional Office 4A (PRO-4A) said law enforcers armed with a warrant of arrest nabbed the suspect identified as alias “Marlon” at 3:50 p.m. in Barangay Molino IV.

The felon is facing cases of direct assault with murder, direct assault with attempted murder, and violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 at the Regional Trial Court Branch 129 in Dasmariñas City with no bail recommended.

The suspect is listed as number 5 in the most wanted person in the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) region.

Police Brigadier General Paul Kenneth Lucas, PRO-4A director, commended the cops for the arrest of the suspect.

“May this serve as a warning to other fugitives that the police force here in the region will run after you and put you behind bars,” Lucas said in a statement.

On Sept. 8, the suspect was the subject of a buy-bust operation in Dasmariñas City.

When Marlon sensed that he and his four cohorts were dealing with police agents, he pulled out a caliber .45 pistol and shot the undercover cops, Police Staff Sergeant Karl Marty Manzanilla and Patrolman Ariel Maribojo.

He fled after the shooting, while his four accomplices were arrested.

The two cops suffered bullet wounds and were taken to Dasmariñas City Medical Center but Manzanilla died on the way.
