DOE begins selection process for electrification project of 98 areas
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Energy (DOE) said on Tuesday that it has begun the competitive selection process (CSP) for microgrid service providers (MGSP) for the electrification of 98 identified unserved and underserved areas in the country.
“The bidding process for the initial 98 unserved and underserved areas for MGSP will be included in this year’s MGSP-CSP,” Energy Undersecretary Rowena Guevara said.
According to the DOE, the 98 areas have 15,645 households.

Meanwhile, the 2023-2032 National Total Electrification Roadmap of the DOE, the National Electrification Administration, the National Power Corporation, and other distribution utilities have initially 407 unserved and underserved areas in the country.

Article continues after this advertisementOut of these, 285 are unserved, a total of 20,103 households, while 122 are underserved, marked at 20,207 households.
“Our primary goal is to expedite the delivery of reliable and sustainable electricity services in all areas, not only in microgrid systems but other appropriate areas based on the area’s characteristics,” Guevara added.
