Both riders suffered serious injuries and were rushed by rescuers to separate hospitals but Zafra was declared dead on arrival.

In Laurel town, Felito Romuar, 52, was driving his motorcycle in Barangay Dayap-Itaas around 1 p.m. when he bumped into a Ford Territory sports utility vehicle driven by Ghian Carlo Ignacio, 37, coming from the opposite direction.

Romuar died while being taken to the hospital.

Police said both parties agreed to settle the case amicably after Ignacio provided financial assistance to the victim’s family.

Meanwhile, tricycle back-rider, Franchesca Anne Torres, 19, was thrown from the vehicle, landed on the pavement, and suffered fatal injuries in a road mishap in Barangay Sawang in Lobo town around 4 p.m.

She was declared dead on arrival at the Lobo District Hospital.
