FDA tells public to report side effects of medicines

MANILA, Philippines — The Food and Drug Agency of the Philippines (FDA) reminded the public to report the side effects of medicines in its advisory on Saturday.

“If you, or a patient you are supporting, experience a side effect with a medicine, make sure to report it to us promptly,” FDA Director General Samuel Zacate said.

The official added that reports will be valuable as these will ensure that medicines will come with minimal risks, and the benefits will be maximized.

“Every report is important in building more knowledge and understanding of the benefits and risks of medicines in clinical use and allows action to be taken to minimize risks,” he added.

The agency made the reminder as it observes the Global Medicine Safety Week from November 6 to 13.

The FDA said that the public can go to its website by clicking here to report any medicinal side effects.
