Beware of uncertified cosmetic products — FDA
MANILA, Philippines — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned the public against purchasing cosmetic products in physical and online shops and platforms that were not certified by the agency.
“The public is hereby advised to practice discernment and caution in purchasing cosmetic products through various distribution channels. The FDA hereby warns against purchasing any unnotified or violative cosmetic products that may be sold or offered for sale through unofficial channels, physical and online platforms,” the FDA said in an advisory on Tuesday.
The list of its certified items may be found in its website, the agency added.
“The FDA further warns concerned establishments not to distribute cosmetic products without the prior authorization. The FDA also warns that establishments who participate in the online selling of cosmetic products without prior authorization from the FDA shall be subject to imposable penalties stipulated in R.A No. 9711 and its IRR,” the agency said.
It also said that it was working with online market platforms to ensure that these laws are followed, and asked the public to report any violations through its communication channels.
