Number of poll-related incidents reported to PNP surges as of Nov. 2
MANILA, Philippines — The number of validated election-related incidents (ERIs) climbed to 47, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Thursday.
It is a jump from the 35 confirmed ERIs as of Tuesday.
Based on the data sent by PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo to reporters, as of 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, the agency has already recorded a total of 264 violent incidents since August 28.
According to PNP, the validated ERIs came from the following regions:
- One in the National Capital Region
- Three in Ilocos Region
- One in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon)
- Two in Bicol
- Two in Central Visayas
- Three in Eastern Visayas
- One in Zamboanga Peninsula
- 13 in Northern Mindanao
- Four in Cordillera Administrative Region
- 16 in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM)
Among the 47 ERIs, 19 were shooting incidents, the PNP said. The nature of other reported poll-related incidents are physical injuries, maulings, kidnappings, other light threats, fire incidents, grave threats, armed confrontation, robbery with intimidation and trespassing, indiscriminate firing, armed encounter, harassment, alarm and scandal, vote buying and selling, and violation of the gun ban.

Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, in terms of the gun ban implementation, the PNP said that as of 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, 2,077 have been arrested since August 28.
The agency has also confiscated 1,569 firearms, while 2,360 were deposited for safekeeping, and 1,707 were surrendered.
