BSKE delayed in some Lanao del Sur, Samar barangays
MANILA, Philippines — Five barangays in Lanao del Sur and Samar are still casting their votes for the barangay and sangguniang kabataan elections (BSKE) on Tuesday after facing issues with the delivery of election paraphernalia on October 30.
According to Commission on Elections (Comelec) chair George Garcia, three of the barangays were located in the province of Lanao Del Sur, while two were located in Samar.
Garcia said five barangays in Lanao del Sur, namely Bialaan, Linao, Lalapung, Tagoranao, and Lumbac Cadayonan experienced delays in the delivery of election paraphernalia, but only Tagoranao and Lumbag Cadayanon were able to hold and complete the casting of votes on Monday.
“‘Yung dalawa po kasi doon sa lima ay nagawa na kahapon natapos po, so tatlo na lang ‘yung natitira na election para sa bayang at ngayong hapon matatapos at makakapagproclaim na po sila,” said Garcia.
(Two of the five barangays finished yesterday and have ended, so there are only three elections left for the town. This afternoon, it will be finished, and they can proclaim the winners.)
Garcia said the Comelec is still investigating why the paraphernalia was not immediately distributed to the respective precincts.

(The insurgents were firing upon the people who were making a delivery to a remote barangay. Therefore, the delivery of election paraphernalia was not completed.)
“Pero ngayon po dahil nadagdagan ‘yung pwersa ng AFP tiyaka PNP, ongoing na po ang ‘yung pagcoconduct ng elections sa dalawang barangays na ‘yan,” he added.
(But now, because the AFP and PNP’s forces have increased, the conduct of the elections in those two barangays is ongoing.)
Garcia said that the five barangays are expected to finish casting their votes by Tuesday afternoon.
