MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) has deployed about 4,000 cops to man major highways and cemeteries in Central Luzon for All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day, or “Undas.”
In a statement on Tuesday, PRO3 director Brigadier General Jose Hidalgo Jr. said 1,000 policemen would serve as road safety marshals, while 3,000 would ensure peace and order in transport terminals and cemeteries.
He said the regional police aim for a “zero crime incidence” during this period.
Hidalgo said the deployment started on Tuesday and would last until the evening of Nov. 2, which is All Souls’ Day.
“Their (police officers) presence is aimed at guaranteeing public safety and security throughout the observance of All Saints’ Day on November 1 and All Souls’ Day on November 2,” he said.
Hidalgo urged the public to remain vigilant and alert against criminals waiting for opportunities to carry out their nefarious activities.
“The public is encouraged not to hesitate to report any incidents to their nearest police station or through the PNP hotline numbers 09985985330 and 09175562597,” the PRO3 said. INQ
