MANILA, Philippines — Addressing his fellow public servants, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Tuesday reminded elected village and youth officials to be “honest at all times” and put the welfare of their constituents first.

“Maging tapat po tayo sa lahat ng oras, lagi po nating unahin ang kapakanan ng sambayanan, sapagkat sila po ang dahilan kung bakit nais natin magsilbi sa bayan,” Marcos said in a social media address.

(Let’s be honest at all times; let’s put the welfare of the people first because they are the reason we want to serve the country.)

(Through our unity and collective effort, we would surely achieve a new Philippines where every village is peaceful, happy and progressive, where harmony, understanding and prosperity prevail, and where everyone is proud of being Filipino.)

Citing the report of Commission on Elections chairman George Erwin Garcia, Marcos noted that the polls have been peaceful overall despite reports of election-related killings in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

(We have witnessed a successful and peaceful village and Sangunniang Kabataan elections; your role in our society is important.)

(This is another chance to serve the Filipinos and the country with all our heart and ability.)

The village and youth officials polls were held on Monday, the first time since May 2018.
