MANILA, Philippines — Residents in Embo Barangays voted as Taguig citizens for the first time since Supreme Court settled the territorial dispute between the cities of Taguig and Makati.

Residents in Barangay Cembo lined up by 7:00 a.m., with priority being given to senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWD).

Most residents, like Nene Dimaandal, noted the voting experience was not very different despite the change in the jurisdiction.

“Nung hawak pa naman ng Makati, okay din kasi PWD ako, priority,” Dimaandal told INQUIRER.net.

(When Makati was still handling us, it was okay because I am a PWD, a priority.)

Dimaandal said when Taguig got the territory, she told herself she would follow the ruling of the High Court.

She also noted there were not a lot of changes in terms of who was running for barangay positions.

According to her, it was more or less the same set of faces from the last barangay elections, with the addition of new candidates.
