Coast Guard gearing up for ‘Undas’, barangay and SK polls

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Coast Guard personnel will be visible and ready to extend assistance to travelers the general public during the forthcoming barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections and the “undas” season, PCG spokesperson  Rear Admiral Armand Balilo said on Thursday.

“Ang instruction  po ni Admiral (Ronnie) Gavan sa lahat ng personnel ng Philippine Coast Guard ay maging visible sa lahat ng mga pantalan at iyong mga security forces na itatalaga natin sa barangay election ay dapat in place na,” said Balilo during the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon briefing.

(Admiral Gavan’s instruction is that all personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard must be visible in all ports, and the security forces deployed for the barangay elections should be in place.) 

Balilo said that the PCG expects more travelers in the coming days.

He emphasized that safety procedures must still be followed and advised travelers to plan ahead.
