PCSO: Holder of damaged, winning lotto ticket to get P12-M prize

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) on Wednesday said that it will award the holder of damaged ticket  his P12 million lottery prize.

PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles said lotto winner Antonio Mendoza, can claim his prize after completing the necessary processes.

“I assured him that I will expedite the process of his claim. Kailangan lang may certificate of finality from SC. I will make sure that he enjoys the fruits of his winnings ASAP. I wanted to put a closure on this issue,” Robles said.

(There needs to be a certificate of finality from the Supreme Court.)

In September, the Supreme Court ordered the PCSO to pay the prize to Mendoza.

The P12-million prize will also gain a legal interest of six percent per annum from the date of finality of the decision.

Mendoza hit the jackpot in 2014, his granddaughter accidentally crumpled the ticket.

His daughter decided to iron the winning ticket which was defaced.
