BuCor secures de Lima witness who recanted affidavit
MANILA, Philippines — Bureau of Correction (BuCor) has secured on Monday one of the witnesses against former senator Leila de Lima in her drug case.
The witness had recanted his testimony later on.
Rodolfo Magleo, a former police officer, was transferred to National Bilibid Prison (NBP) on Monday night upon his request, BuCor said in a release on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the court has also ordered NBP to transfer another witness, Nonito Arile, to its custody.
Arile also recanted his testimony, together with Magleo.
Article continues after this advertisementBucor’s press release added Magleo was supposed to be presented as a prosecution witness in a hearing on Monday.
Article continues after this advertisementHowever, he handed a letter to the court which detailed that he and Arile intended to withdraw their sworn affidavits.
Following this action, the prosecution did not present Magleo anymore as a witness.
