Police in Bicol told to be ‘on guard’ and ready for BSKE
LEGAZPI CITY — During his visit here for the 122nd anniversary of police service, Philippine National Police chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. directed cops to be on guard in preparation for the Barangay ang Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) this coming October 30.
Speaking at Camp General Simeon Ola in this city on Friday (October 13), Acorda lauded Police Brigadier General Westrimundo Obinque, Bicol police chief, and his men for maintaining peace and order in the region.
“The law enforcement operation results and statistics are very impressive and remarkable and crimes have resolved,” he said.
“So far in the Bicol region, we haven’t heard any alarming situation like in other areas. Nevertheless, together with other agencies, specially the AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines), Coast Guard and also the Comelec (Commission on Elections), we are closely working together and ironing out things [related to the conduct of the polls]. We are also aligning our forces where we need to apply them,” he said.
He said they also identifed some barangays that need special attention. Deployment of necessary numbers are being readied, too, he added.
