An 18-year old student was stabbed and wounded after he fought off two motorcycle-riding men in North Reclamation Area, Mandaue City, last  Friday.

Mario Chan of San Carlos, Negros Occidental, was rushed to the Cebu Doctors’ Hospital after sustaining stab wounds.

Initial police investigation revealed that the 2nd-year radio technician student of Cebu Doctors’ University left the school campus to photocopy documents.

Morpos said the robber then grabbed the victim’s iPhone but the victim resisted, which prompted the holdupper to stab the victim in the back.

A chase ensued but the man collared the victim and stabbed him again several times in the arms and in the stomach.

The holduppers fled with the victim’s iPhone.

Morpos said police and barangay tanods regularly patrol the area.

He said the robbers were also possibly monitoring the movement of the police and got aggressive during the summer break where there are smaller crowds./Norman Mendoza
