Quezon City is PH’s richest LGU for three consecutive years

MANILA, Philippines — For the third consecutive year in a row, Quezon City was declared as the country’s wealthiest local government unit (LGU), having an asset of more than P443 billion in 2022.
Although a few billion less compared to its P451 billion assets in 2021, and P452 billion assets in 2020, the city still retained its position at the top of the list.
Next to Quezon City is Makati, which has an asset of over P239 billion. It is followed by Manila, which has an asset of more than P77 billion.
According to the Commission on Audit (COA) 2022 Annual Financial Report on LGUs, the following are the country’s top 10 wealthiest cities based on their assets:
- Quezon City – P443.406 billion
- Makati City – P239.478 billion
- Manila – P77.506 billion
- Pasig City – P52.152 billion
- Taguig City – P40.840 billion
- Mandaue City – P34.231 billion
- Cebu City – P30.545 billion
- Mandaluyong City – P32.550 billion
- Davao City – P29.701 billion
- Parañaque City – P27.376 billion
Meanwhile, in terms of provinces, Cebu remains the wealthiest in the country. It has an asset of more than P235 billion and is already on its eighth consecutive year of being the richest province.
Still, based on COA’s 2022 Annual Financial Report, the following are the top 10 provinces that have the highest assets in the country:
- Cebu – P235.738 billion
- Rizal – P35.594 billion
- Batangas –P31.999 billion
- Davao de Oro – P23.107 billion
- Ilocos Sur – P21.562 billion
- Bukidnon – P21.058 billion
- Iloilo – P19.977 billion
- Negros Occidental – P19.419 billion
- Cavite – P19.342 billion
- Pampanga – P19.127 billion
As for the municipalities, the following are 2022’s top 10 wealthiest municipalities according to COA’s report:
- Carmona, Cavite – P6.522 billion
- Limay, Bataan – P 5.791 billion
- Silang, Cavite – P4.454 billion
- Caluya, Antique – P3.822 billion
- Cabugao, Ilocos Sur – P3.805 billion
- Cainta, Rizal – P3.767 billion
- Taytay, Rizal – P3.671 billion
- Binangonan, Rizal – P3.490 billion
- Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur – P3.268 billion
- Sta. Cruz, Ilocos Sur – P3.216 billion
