Suspect in Naia parking Molotov cocktail blast arrested
MANILA, Philippines — Airport authorities arrested on Sept. 28 the suspect behind the Molotov cocktail blast on Sept. 23, which damaged three cars at the open parking of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) Terminal 3.
The suspect, named Renieldo Dela Peña Perez, admitted to igniting a Molotov cocktail, which he “personally assembled.”
Police also said that the suspect was a former taxi driver. He will face charges of attempted arson and alarm and scandal, the Manila International Airport Authority said.
Perez is currently detained at Pasay City jail.
Meanwhile, a vaping device, not an improvised explosive, was what exploded near Naia Terminal 1. A 65-year-old garbage collector was wounded after the vaping device, which he picked up, exploded.
