MANILA, Philippines — Three Pakistanis allegedly linked to a local terrorist group in Mindanao were arrested, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Friday.
The foreigners were identified by the bureau as Faizan Muhammad, Ali Wahab, and Ajmal Ali.
According to the BI, they received a report from a Filipina complaining about Muhammad and Wahab.
“The duo reportedly harassed the family of the complainant and threatened to kill her as they were supported by a terrorist group,” the bureau shared in a press release.
Ali, on the other hand, was tagged as a supplier of materials for a local extremist group in Central Mindanao.
With an issued mission order for arrest, the BI reported Muhammad was found in Zamboanga del Sur, while Wahab and Ali were in Lanao del Sur.
All three were immediately arrested on Tuesday, according to the BI. They were also found to be undocumented and overstaying in the country.
During the arrest, the BI noted that Muhammad presented a Philippine National ID despite being a foreign national, while Ali presented a Philippine driver’s license stating that his nationality is Filipino.
The three are charged with violation of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940, the BI said.
