MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Friday recognized the sacrifices of teachers and described them as “artisans” who help form the individuality of Filipino learners.

Marcos thanked the teachers in a message posted on Facebook on World Teachers’ Day.

“As partners of parents and guardians in raising the next generation, teachers help lay the foundation for a prosperous, sustainable, and inclusive future by reinforcing our most cherished values amidst our rapidly changing world,” he said.

“Hence, while the youth are the treasures that bring hope for tomorrow, our educators are the artisans who work diligently to shape a resilient character, engrave a sense of purpose, and instill the precious love of country in every Filipino learner,” he added.

The President also issued the message after the annual National Teachers’ Month ended on September 30.

“I hope that more Filipinos will give due appreciation for your significant role and even join you in pursuing this noble and rewarding calling,” he said. “Let the attention and affection from this time likewise emphasize that as teachers lead the way for our people’s path towards growth, we stand together as a nation for the welfare of our beloved teachers.”
