“I want to take this opportunity to encourage all of you to be Matatag. Matatag means being resilient, strong, and unyielding in the face of challenges and obstacles. It means having the unwavering determination to overcome any adversity that comes your way. As teachers, being Matatag is of utmost importance, for it is through your strength and resilience that you can inspire and empower your students to be their best selves,” said Duterte in a speech in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.
