DA seizes smuggled Indian buffalo meat
Authorities confiscated 1,714 kilograms of Indian buffalo meat worth P445,666 that entered the Philippines illegally, the Department of Agriculture (DA) said. The smuggled meat were found inside two unregistered cold storage and five refrigerated vans at the Kadiwa wet market in Dasmariñas City in Cavite province. The DA said Indian buffalo meat can only be used for meat processing. Those found guilty of trading imported Indian buffalo meat illegally face imprisonment of up to 12 years and a fine of as high as P1 million or both, depending on the court. —Jordeene B. Lagare
