MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is reviewing the recommendation to suspend the cops involved in the killing of 17-year-old Jemboy Baltazar in Navotas City.
According to Philippine National Police (PNP) Public Information Office chief Col. Jean Fajardo on Friday, the NCRPO received the recommendation from its Internal Affairs Service (IAS).
“Twenty personnel were recommended to be suspended for 59 days, ” Fajardo said in a text message to INQUIRER.net.
Fajardo also said that the case will undergo review by the PNP NCRPO Committee on Disposition of Admin Case, as per procedure.
Police killed Baltazar in Navotas City back in August this year in a case of mistaken identity.
The case drew widespread condemnation, sparking a Senate probe. During the investigation, the policeman who shot Baltazar admitted that he panicked.
