With the celebration of National Cleanup Month and World Environmental Health Day in September, Manila Water reiterates the importance of regular desludging of septic tanks to help safeguard the health of the community and contribute towards environmental protection as well.
“We all know that the health of the ecology and the environment we are in is directly related to the well-being of our family and the community. According to data from the World Health Organization, more than 100 illnesses and injuries can be directly linked to environmental health concerns, such as soil pollution, water pollution, ultraviolet radiation, and climate change.”, says Jeric Sevilla, Manila Water Corporate Communication Affairs Group Director.
With regular siphoning of septic tanks through Manila Water’s desludging caravan, wastewater is properly collected and treated in the Company’s septage treatment facilities, following global guidelines on effluent and other regulations set by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, making sure that the treated wastewater is safe for the marine biodiversity and thus abating water pollution.
Customers can check with their respective barangay councils for the exact schedule of the visit of Manila Water’s desludging caravan in their areas or call the Manila Water Consumer Help Desk at 1627.
