CFA eyes second win in Suzuki Cup

THE UNIVERSITY of San Jose Recoletos-manned Cebu Football Association (CFA) eyes its second win in the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Suzuki Cup U23 as it faces Leyte this afternoon at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

The CFA team is currently at third place in the standings with four points off a win-draw-loss record of 1-1-2.

Leading the division is the Ceres-University of St. La Salle-manned Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA), which has won all of its five games so far equivalent to 15 points. Trailing at second is Iloilo Football Association (IFA) with nine points after posting a record of 3-0-1. Following CFA at fourth and fifth places, respectively, are Negros Oriental Football Association (NORFA) and Leyte.

Both teams have yet to win a game. NORFA, however, already has a point after drawing Cebu, 2-2, last March 24. CFA hopes to stay within the top three as only the top three teams will advance to the national finals.

The first time Leyte and CFA met, the Cebuanos won, 4-1./CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
