Cop arrested after shooting 3 in Malabon City

MANILA, Philippines — Authorities arrested a patrolman after killing two men and injuring a woman in Malabon City, police said on Thursday.

In a report, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) identified the suspect as Zenjo Del Rosario, a member of the Malabon City Police Station (CPS) Station Drug Enforcement Unit, and the victims were Alexis Gutierrez, Jay Bacusmo Apas, and Baby Tadiamon.

Police said Malabon CPS operatives arrested Del Rosario on Tuesday around 1 p.m. in Barangay Acacia, following the shooting incident that took place at 4:30 a.m.

Based on the report, the suspect entered the victims’ home and shot various parts of their body. Of the three, only Tadiamon survived and sustained gunshot wounds on her body and left leg, while the other two died shortly after the incident.

After hearing gunshots, neighbors sought the assistance of Malabon CPS and immediately brought the victims to the hospital.

By backtracking the CCTV footage within the area and interviewing possible witnesses, the police tracker team uncovered the identity of Del Rosario, which led to his arrest.

Del Rosario is currently under Malabon CPS custody and will undergo a paraffin test and medical examination. His firearm was likewise confiscated for ballistic examination.
