Civilian, fireman hurt in Malabon warehouse fire

A civilian and a fireman were hurt in a fire that transpired in a storage warehouse for socks and shoes in Barangay Catmon, Malabon City.

MANILA, Philippines — A civilian and a fireman were hurt in a fire that transpired in a storage warehouse for socks and shoes in Barangay Catmon, Malabon City.

Based on the report from the Bureau of Fire Protection – National Capital Region (BFP-NCR), the fire started at around 9:50 p.m. on Monday. It took the authorities overnight before they were able to declare it as “fire out” at 6:03 a.m. on Tuesday.

On Thursday, the BFP-NCR identified the victims who were injured by the fire.

21-year-old Joan Pagaduan suffered from an abrasion on her left knee and a sprained right ankle.

The firefighter, on the other hand, was identified as 32-year-old Fire Officer 3 Vincent Jan D. Atienza. He reportedly suffered from a 2nd degree burn in his left leg.

According to BFP-Malabon City, the two were immediately assessed and given proper treatment by their Emergency Medical Services personnel.

Meanwhile, BFP-NCR said that the estimated damage of the fire amounted to P7,500,000.

It also reported that one establishment, which was the storage warehouse, was burned.

The bureau noted that the fire started at the farthest part of the building, while its cause remains under investigation.
