LUCENA CITY — Police arrested a former drug convict carrying an illegal firearm during a buy-bust operation Tuesday in Tiaong town in Quezon province.

The Quezon police said in a report Wednesday, Sept. 20, that anti-narcotics operatives held Randy Argelio, 49, after he sold P500 worth of shabu (crystal meth) to a poseur buyer at around 11:45 p.m. in Barangay San Agustin.

The suspect was found in possession of seven sachets of meth with a street value of P11,424 and an improvised shotgun.

The report said Argelio was first arrested in June 2020 on drug charges and illegal possession of a firearm. The report did not state why and when he was freed.

The suspect is now back in jail and is facing charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

He will also be slapped with a case for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act in relation to the Omnibus Election Code.
