Truck ban proposed near City Hall, busy Mandaue streets
MANDAUE City’s traffic management team is proposing a truck ban in the city’s major population centers.
The Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue City (TEAM) said the proposed ordinance would prohibit trucks weighing 4.5 tons from passing Mandaue City proper.
Edwin Ermac, TEAM chief, said a ban is needed for heavy trucks passing S.B. Cabahug Street, E. Del Rosario Avenue, C. Ouano, Zamora and Gomez streets.
They are also recommending that the the truck ban cover streets near City Hall, St. Joseph National Shrine Parish, courts and schools.
Heavy duty trucks such as trailers and ten-wheeler trucks are congesting these streets and endangering other vehicles and pedestrians.
Ermac also asked for the extension of the traffic re-routing dry-run that ended last March 20.

Ermac asked the Mandaue City Council for a two-monthsextension of the rerouting scheme.
“If this will decongest traffic, especially in barangay Centro, we will request the City Council to enact an ordinance to permanently implement this traffic scheme,” Ermac said./Fe Marie D. Dumaboc, Correspondent
