Alberto’s Pizza raps defending champ Mawin’s Kitchen, captures MKBC summer hoop crown
THE Robert Chua-led Alberto’s Pizza crushed defending champion Mawin’s Kitchen, 89-72, Sunday night to capture the championship of the Mawin’s Kitchen Ball Club (MKBC)-2012 summer basketball tournament at the Vicente Sotto Memorial gym.
After a close first quarter where the Pizzamakers led by only one, 18-17, it was easy sailing for Alberto’s Pizza the rest of the way.
Resty Getubig and former PBA standout Danny Aying led the Pizzamakers with 21 and 16 points respectively while Oliver Sanoy paced Mawin’s Kitchen with 20 markers.
Earlier, in the battle for third, Kelvin Cinco fired 18 points to lift Blessel Arts & Sign Services to an, 88-83 victory over Coca-Cola. Glen Cabiluna and Ronald Sanchez backed Cinco with 17 and 16 points, respectively.
Cromwel Dinate and Mark Villagonzalo led Coca-Cola with 22 and 20 points, respectively.
Meanwhile, Danny Aying bagged the MKBC 2012 season tournament MVP award.
