MANILA, Philippines – Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrado Estrella III said that every province in the country will have is set to a Condonation Quick Response Center following the enactment of the New Agrarian Emancipation Act of 2023.
The law condones the debt of around 610,000 farmer beneficiaries. The implementing rules and regulations of the law was received by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on September 12.
“Mamaya pagdating ko sa aming Tanggapan sa Agrarian Reform, ako ay pipirma ng isang SO (Special Order) na kami ay magke-create ng Condonation Quick Response Centers sa lahat ng lalawigan ng Pilipinas at ganoon din sa Central Office ng Agrarian Reform,” said Estrella in the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon public briefing.
(Later, I will sign an SO to create Condonation Quick Response Centers in every province of the Philippines as well as the Central Office ng Agrarian Reform.)
Estrella, however, did not specify when these centers will open.
Marcos had also instructed the Department of Agrarian Reform to streamline the process and lessen requirements for farmers availing of the debt condonation.
Estrella said that the agency is eyeing to process 200,000 farmer beneficiaries by the end of the year.
