6 houses razed in Batangas town fire

LUCENA CITY — A fire burned six houses in a residential area in Mataas Na Kahoy town in Batangas province on Saturday, September 16.
The Batangas police said in a report Sunday that the blaze started at around 6:40 p.m. in one of the rooms in the house owned by Shiela Rabano, 43, located in Barangay (village) 4.
Because the house was made of light materials, the blaze quickly spread and burned five other houses, the report said.

Local firemen were able to put off the fire two hours later.
The affected families were temporarily settled in an evacuation center.

No one was hurt in the incident and property damage has yet to be determined by authorities, the report also said.
Investigation was ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
