TAGBILARAN CITY — Close to 200 students were reportedly possessed on Friday by evil spirits while attending Holy Mass at a school in Talibon town, Bohol.

One of the students of the San Jose National High School (SJNHS) suddenly fainted, some trembled, while others started displaying shortness of breath and hyperventilation, said lawyer Lenard Querubin in a Facebook post.

Querubin said he was at the school when the incident happened.

“Just this morning in San Jose National High School, Talibon, Bohol where a huge number of students exhibited unusual behaviors and fainted while attending Holy Mass,” he said.

Talibon Mayor Janette Garcia requested the parents to take their children home.

After receiving the call from the provincial health office, Anthony Damalerio, head of the provincial disaster risk reduction and management office head, dispatched emergency responders from Trinidad, San Miguel, and Alicia to the school and brought 195 students to the President Carlos P. Garcia Memorial Hospital in Talibon town.

However, only two were admitted.

SNHS is the province’s largest and biggest integrated high school.

Town folk claimed that the students suffered from “demonic possession.”

It started last week when some students claiming that they had seen spirits or had supernatural experiences lurking in the school. Some of them saw a dark person reportedly from a balete tree inside the school.
