MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.2 earthquake jolted Lantapan, Bukidnon on Thursday night.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the quake of tectonic in origin struck Bukidnon at 9:46 p.m. It had a 14-kilometer depth of focus.
Based on the agency’s earthquake information, Intensity III was reportedly felt in Lantapan, Libona and Talakag in Bukidnon.

Intensity II was likewise felt in Baungon, Cabanglasan, Impasug-ong, Kalilangan, City of Malaybalay, Manolo Fortich, Maramag, Pangantucan, Quezon, Sumilao and City of Valencia in Bukidnon, and in the City of Cagayan de Oro.

Intensity I was felt in Kadingilan and San Fernando, Bukidnon.
The following instrumental intensities were recorded:
- Intensity III – Malaybalay, Bukidnon
- Intensity II – Kalilangan, Bukidnon; Banisilan, Cotabato; and Cagayan de Oro and Initao in Misamis Oriental
- Intensity I – Kadingilan, Bukidnon; Kidapawan City, Cotabato
Reported intensities were based on the shaking actually felt by people, while instrumental intensities were based on the ground motion detected by an accelerometer.
No damage was reported as of this writing and no aftershocks are expected, Phivolcs added.
