MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) located 395 kilometers east northeast of Itbayat, Batanes is expected to dissolve within the next 24 to 48 hours, but the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, may continue to bring rains until tomorrow, the state weather bureau said on Thursday.

“Wala itong [LPA] direktang epekto sa ano mang bahagi ng ating bansa at inaasahan po natin na possible itong mag dissipate o malusaw within the next 24 to 48 hours,” Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Patrick Del Mundo said in his advisory.

There were also no low pressure systems spotted inside or outside of the Philippine area of responsibility, but the southwest monsoon is forecast to bring overcast skies with rain showers in most parts of the country until tomorrow, he added.

“So far, wala pa rin tayong namamataan na low pressure system sa loob at labas ng ating Philippine area of responsibility na maaaring maka-apekto sa ating bansa sa mga susunod na araw, bagamat inaasahan po natin na maaaring magpatuloy ‘yung epekto ng hanging habagat hanggang bukas,” he said.

Meanwhile, the state weather agency said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected in the rest of the country also brought by the southwest monsoon.

No gale warning signal is raised in any parts of the country’s seaboards, Pagasa added.
