Authorities bust two for yielding P136M ‘shabu’ in Parañaque
MANILA, Philippines — Anti-drug state agents have arrested two men for yielding P136 million worth of suspected crystal meth or “shabu” during a buy-bust operation in Parañaque City.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said Wednesday that Mark Joseph Cortez, 38, and Jacqueline Espinosa, 37, were nabbed in Barangay Tambo on September 12 through the joint effort of its personnel in Metro Manila and Calabarzon and members of the Parañaque City Police Station.
In a statement on Wednesday, PDEA said it confiscated 20 kilograms of shabu valued at P136 million and the buy-bust money from the suspects.
However, it also said a cohort of Cortez and Espinosa, identified as Marion King John Cortez, escaped during the operation.
PDEA said the arrested suspects will face complaints for violating Section 5 in relation to Section 26 (Attempt or Conspiracy to Sell of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
