Man abducted and shot multiple times in Antipolo survives
MANILA, Philippines — A man who was abducted and shot multiple times in the jaw and head was found alive in Antipolo city last September 8, police said on Monday.
Antipolo police chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Ryan Manongdo identified the victim as Daniel Apolinario.
Apolinario was allegedly kidnapped by four suspects around 11:45 p.m. on September 7.
Manongdo said Apolinario was allegedly shot four times in the jaw and once on the head.
Then, the suspects left him near a gas station in Sitio Boso-Boso along Marcos Highway around midnight.
Article continues after this advertisementThe victim was found by a tricycle driver, who rushed him to a hospital in Sitio Cabading in Antipolo around 1 a.m. on Friday.
Article continues after this advertisementManongdo said they received a report from the hospital about the incident and on Apolinario’s condition.
“Nakatanggap kami ng report around 4 a.m. na merong tinakbo sa ospital sa Cabading at sinabi nga dito na may tama sa ulo yung kanilang pasyente. So, kami ay nag imbestiga,” Manongdo told INQUIRER.net in a phone interview.
(We received a report around 4 a.m. that someone was rushed to the hospital, and they said the person was shot in the head. So we investigated.)
“Buhay siya. Balak siya patayin pero talagang mataas yung will to live nung tao kaya naka-survive at miraculously talaga nakagapang pa siya,” Manongdo narrated.
(He’s alive. They intended to kill him, but the victim’s will to live is strong, so he survived and miraculously, he was able to crawl.)
“Almost 15 meters ang kanyang nagapang from the sidewalk,” he recalled Apolinario’s ordeal.

Despite his critical condition, Apolinario was able to give authorities his testimony.
He mentioned the name “Jack,” who police surmised could be among the suspects.
He was also able to describe the place where he was abducted, hurt, and assumed by the suspects to have been killed.
These pieces of information prompted Antipolo police to launch a manhunt operation against the suspects.
Manongdo said through a CCTV footage, they were able to track the SUV used to drop off the victim after he was shot.
Investigators are now verifying the vehicle’s license plate and conduction sticker.
Police are determining the motive behind the abduction and the failed attempt to kill Apolinario.
