MANILA, Philippines — An overstaying French was apprehended by the Bureau of Immigration’s Intelligence Division (BI-ID) in Santiago City, Isabela.
In a report from BI-ID released on Friday, the 51-year-old subject, Yassine Nouraddine Debah, violated the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940.
The law regulates the stay of aliens or non-residents in the country.
Debah reportedly overstayed in the Philippines, undocumented, with only his expired passport.
The operation conducted by BI’s Regional Intelligence Operation Unit – 2 led to Debah’s arrest on September 5.
Fortunato Manahan, Jr., Chief of BI-ID, said before the arrest, their operatives snooped on Debah’s residence for two days to confirm his identity.
The foreigner was transferred to BI’s holding facility in Bicutan, Taguig.
He will also be up for deportation proceedings.
