LUCENA CITY – A security guard allegedly shot and killed late Thursday a man posing as a soldier who fired at him in Nasugbu town in Batangas province.

In a report, the Region 4A police said on Friday that Reynaldo Visto, who  identified himself as a soldier, shouted and, with a caliber 45 pistol, fired at Argie Yamson, the security guard of a private property in Barangay Bulihan at 8:27 p.m.

Visto missed his target, which prompted Yamson to fire a shotgun to defend himself, hitting his attacker.

The police said Visto died while undergoing treatment at the local hospital. Responding policemen arrested Yamson.

Investigators found out from Visto’s relatives that he was not a soldier but a nursing attendant at the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center, more commonly known as V. Luna General Hospital in Quezon City.

An investigation is ongoing to establish the motive of the victim for shooting Yamson.

Yamson was detained and is facing criminal charges. INQ
