LTFRB awaiting release of subsidy fund for fuel for PUVs

MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) on Wednesday said it will release the fuel subsidy for public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers one funds are made available.

Balano explained that the subsidies will be distributed to around 1.3 million PUV operators and drivers, and will depend on the type of PUV they operate.

Traditional jeepney drivers or operators will receive P6,500, modern jeepney drivers or operators will receive 10,000, tricycle drivers will receive P1,000, while riders will receive P1,200 — all per unit.

(The basis of the department and LTFRB is their operational cost and fuel consumption.)

The subsidy was announced around late July to ease the impact of continuous oil price hikes.
