MANILA, Philippines — Pasig City Police confirmed that the 10-foot long snake that escaped from the hands of its initial captors in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig, has not yet been found and may still be around the residential area of the barangay.
Police Col. Celerino M. Sacro Jr. told INQUIRER.net in a Viber message that the snake managed to escape and slithered into a creek nearby while authorities were carrying and trying to transport it out of the area.
“As per Jacky Hernales, security force ng Barangay Pinagbuhatan, nakatakas at pumasok sa kanal. Hindi na daw po nahuli (it escaped and entered a creek and remains missing since),” he said.
However, Sacro assured the public that their operations to find the snake would continue, adding that authorities had already advised the residents within the area and nearby communities to remain vigilant and to alert their respective barangay officials once they found the snake.
A resident first informed the barangay authorities of the snake on August 27. It slithered from their house to an adjacent house, where it was caught by barangay authorities.
Once found, the snake will be under the custody of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. With a report from Angeline Marcelino
