MANILA, Philippines – Parts of Occidental Mindoro, Cotabato and Davao were jolted by earthquakes Wednesday afternoon, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The epicenter of the magnitude 4.8 tectonic earthquake that struck Occidental Mindoro at 2:52 p.m. was traced east of Santa Cruz.
The earthquake was felt at Instrumental Intensity II in Calapan City and Puerto Galera in Oriental Mindoro; Instrumental Intensity II in Abucay, Bataan and Ternate, Cavite and Instrumental Intensity I in Batangas City, Tagaytay City, Boac in Marinduque as well as in San Jose, Abra de Ilog and Magsaysay in Occidental Mindoro.
No damage and aftershocks are expected, Phivolcs said.
At 3:02 p.m., a magnitude 3.5 earthquake shook Cotabato, which was felt at Intensity III in Davao City.
The epicenter was traced east of Magpet.
Phivolcs likewise said that there were no expected damage or aftershocks.
A magnitude 4.7 earthquake later rocked Davao City and Cotabato City at 3:51 pm. Its epicenter was located west of Davao City.
The temblor was felt at Intensity IV in Davao City and Kidapawan City and Intensity III in Antipas, Pres. Roxas and Matalam in Cotabato
No damage or aftershocks are expected, according to Phivolcs.
