MANILA, Philippines — A policeman and his sibling were arrested on Sunday in Pasay city for detaining a female Chinese and demanding P500,000 for her release.

The suspects were identified as Lordgin Antonio and his sibling Nelson, while the victim’s name is Zhou Yunqing.

A certain Law Yi Wei reported to police that his friend Yunqing was taken by individuals claiming to be members of Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP CIDG).

The suspects had accused Yunqing of engaging in human trafficking.

The complainant gave police a picture of the victim in handcuffs.

He also showed them the text messages sent by the suspects demanding ransom.

The victim was rescued after an operation conducted by Pasay city police.

A gun and a magazine loaded with live ammunitions were recovered.

Police determined the nine-millimeter Taurus with 14 ammunitions seized from the suspects was a firearm issued by PNP.

There were also five different identification cards, some cash, and cell phones obtained from the suspects.

Lordgin and his brother are now facing charges of illegal detention, robbery extortion, falsification of public documents, and illegal use of PNP uniform.

They are currently detained at Pasay City Custodial Facility.
