Half day in Pampanga gov’t offices, schools on Sept. 8 for Virgen de los Remedios rites
MANILA, Philippines — Pampanga has suspended work in government offices, and classes in private and public schools in all levels by 12 noon on Friday, September 8, to give way to the celebration of the canonical coronation anniversary of the Virgen de los Remedios, Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda said.
Executive Order (EO) No. 29, which was posted in the Pampanga Provincial Information Office’s Facebook page on Tuesday, stated that: “In order to lend full meaning to the occasion, it becomes necessary to allow all interested participants, including the youth, to attend and participate in the event, and thus, to declare a suspension of work in government offices and classes in schools of all levels throughout the Province.”
However, work in key frontline offices, peace and order, heallth as well as emergency response groups will go on.
The Virgen de los Remedios, which is the patroness of Pampanga, was canonically crowned by Pope Pius XII on July 15, 1956. The coronation rites, however, were held on September 8, 1956.
