Canceled flights for September 4 due to Typhoon Hanna and the southwest monsoon

CANCELED FLIGHTS

MANILA, Philippines — Several flights were canceled on Monday, September 4, due to bad weather brought by Typhoon Hanna (international name: Haikui) and the boosted southwest monsoon, locally termed habagat.

The Manila International Airport Authority said in an advisory that as of 7:54 a.m. the following flights were discontinued for the day:

Philippine Airlines (PR)

Xiamen Airlines (MF)

Cebu Pacific (5J)

Based on the 5 a.m. bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Hanna was 265 kilometers northwest of Itbayat, Batanes as it made another landfall in Taiwan’s Kaohsiung City.

The typhoon packed maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 165 kph as it slowly moved south-southwestward.

Although Hanna is forecast to exit the Philippine area of responsibility within six to 12 hours, Pagasa said a wind signal is still in effect in Batanes.

The typhoon-boosted southwest monsoon, on the other hand, is affecting the entire country, especially parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila.
