MANILA, Philippines — Classes were suspended in some areas of the country on Monday, September 4, due to the inclement weather brought by Typhoon Hanna (international name: Haikui) and the enhanced southwest monsoon, locally termed habagat.

As of 9 a.m., the following areas postponed the holding of classes in schools:

Metro Manila

– Barangay Holy Spirit (Preschool to Senior high school, public schools)

– Barangay Bagong Silangan (Preschool to Senior high school, public schools)

– Barangay Payatas  (Preschool to Senior high school, public schools)

– Barangay Greater Lagro  (Preschool to Senior high school, public schools)

– Barangay Apolonio Samson (Preschool to Senior high school, public schools)

– Barangay New Era (Preschool to Elementary, public schools)

– Barangay Commonwealth (Preschool to Elementary, public schools)

– Barangay Sacred Heart (Kinder to Grade 12, public schools)

– Barangay North Fairview (Preschool to Senior high school, public schools)

– Barangay San Bartolome (Preschool to Senior High School, public schools)

– Barangay San Jose (Preschool to High School, public schools)

Bulacan

According to the 5 a.m., September 4, cyclone bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Hanna was 265 kilometers (km) northwest of Itbayat, Batanes.

It also indicated that Hanna was packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 165 kph, as it slowly moved south-southwestward.

Hanna is forecast to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Monday afternoon.

The typhoon-boosted southwest monsoon, on the other hand, is affecting the entire country, especially parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila.
