Typhoon Hanna keeps strength as it moves westward

MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Hanna maintained its strength on Friday as it continues to move westward, the state meteorologists said.

Moving westward at 15 kilometers per hour (kph), Hanna’s center was last spotted 710 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kph with gustiness of 150 kph, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Hanna is forecast to move generally west-northwestward throughout the forecast period,” the Pagasa said in its 5:00 p.m. advisory.

The typhoon is forecast to exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Sunday afternoon or evening, according to the weather bureau.
