MANILA, Philippines — The late veteran broadcaster Mike Enriquez was recognized on Wednesday by no less than President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. himself, with the Chief Executive calling him “a pillar in our broadcasting industry.”
Enriquez died on Tuesday at the age of 71, according to GMA News.

“We are saddened by news of the passing of veteran anchor Mike Enriquez, a pillar in our broadcasting industry,” said Marcos in a Twitter post.
The highest leader of the land lauded Enriquez, whose career in journalism spanned decades.
“He dedicated his life to delivering unbiased news to the Filipino people. Our heartfelt thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this time,” added the President.
On Tuesday evening, Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cheloy Garafil also paid tribute to Enriquez, underscoring his contributions to factual reporting.
